I'm Alan, a leatherworker of 10 years, from the Isle of Mull, Scotland. I design and produce handmade bespoke and custom leather goods using traditional bridle hide and natural vegetable tanned full grain hide. I also turn wooden bowls, boxes and various other wood items, while sometimes combining leather with wood to create something a little different.
All our handmade bespoke leather goods are made using traditional tools and methods, the best way to ensure they are well made and long lived. If there's stitching there, you can guarantee it's all done by hand. There are no machines involved, just hand craftsmanship bringing tradition into the digital age.
To achieve a quality product we must use quality materials. The hide we use for our leather goods is traditional full grain, natural vegetable tanned hide. This process can take up to a year, carried out by specialist curriers, a trade that dates back many centuries. The result is a well cured, supple and strong hide that withstands heavy use over long periods of time and matures beautifully with age. And and the reason why the equestrian industry, and IOM Leather, values it so highly for handmade bespoke products that can last for generations.
